Can you help us support Tina and all others excited to be at this park?  Do to unseen hurdles associated with stay-at-home orders our fundraising has be effected tremendously!  We need $2,000,000 to be able to build out all of Phase 1 like we want to, which means we need your help and commitment.  Go to www.miracleparkrockhill.com to find out how you can help.

Sensory area concept

We are so excited about the Sensory Area of our park! This will be right outside the concessions and main restroom building. All five senses will be featured. The tactile wall will feature different textures to stimulate the sense of touch and will have specific features to represent elements of a field and sports equipment for those not quite ready to join a team. The auditory wall will have carefully chosen pieces to make a variety of sounds. All the colors in the area and in our logo are based on how the brain responds to color; for example, yellow is the first color recognized by the brain, and blue produces a calming effect. We will have a sensory garden for the senses of taste and smell. Plants will be pleasant to smell and safe to taste. Finally, there will be a sensory pathway that will be available to all. We hope that therapists will also use this pathway to bring their clients to the park to allow families to enjoy the park together while doing therapy outside! The photos above are some inspirational photos and early renderings of the area. We can’t wait to see our ideas become reality!

BUT, we still need $4,000,000 in funding ($4,000,000 already raised) to finish the job!  Can you help by donating today?  https://www.miracleparkrockhill.com/donations

Sponsor: Stevenson & Weir

Concrete is the cornerstone material in foundations and structures and community service is the cornerstone of building great communities. Fortunately, we at Stevenson-Weir, Inc. have this amazing opportunity to gift our products, materials and equipment for community service to enhance our great City of Rock Hill with supporting the development of Miracle Park.

Coined the “Green Team” due to our vibrant green color and our team approach to providing service we equally value hard work ethic as well as play.  Although play is often thought of as a “child’s job” it is vital in all stages of life.  Learning through play increases social and cognitive learning as well as functional abilities.  Individuals with mental and physical disabilities are not afforded appropriate avenues to enhance development. Miracle Park will provide the framework for inclusion for all abilities to play, develop, socialize, learn from each other and work!  We are PROUD to partner with other local businesses and individuals to bring Miracle Park to fruition to find JOY together through PLAY for ALL citizens with ALL abilities.
“The Green Team”

My name is Emily Saverance; I am 34 years old, and I LOVE sports!  I have played on golf teams, soccer teams, bowling teams, bocce teams and swim teams.  I have competed at the local, state, national, and world levels for swimming and bowling.  I am looking forward to the sports that will be played at Miracle Park, but I am really excited that they will be hiring people with disabilities to work there.  I am a hard worker and worked at a bakery for over 10 years until they closed down.  I hope to be hired there so I can earn my own money, be independent and work with people in our community.

Universal Design - This is what sets us apart!

Miracle Park's goal is accessibility, equity, and the removal of barriers.  We have looked at the physical and social barriers of other playgrounds and parks and tried to remove them so that people of all ages, abilities, races, and genders can play, work, and hang out TOGETHER without barriers.

Thanks to the Ryan Doherty and Progressive AE, we have been able to research and pursue Universal Design Certification -- While grounded in ADA, this process offers far more potential for inclusion by using established guidelines for buildings and spaces to help meet the needs of different populations, including: the elderly, individuals with disabilities, those recovering from injury, and people with hearing and sight challenges. Universal Design (Universal Design | Progressive AE) is dedicated to designing spaces where everyone is given what they need to succeed. It is an opportunity to create a space where physical and social barriers are removed to create an environment that was designed with everyone in mind with the ultimate goal of full inclusion.

The Universal Design principles incorporated into the project will enable Miracle Park to apply for Universal Design certification, one of only a few buildings in the world to have currently achieved this status and the first athletic Park of this kind to be certified in the world.

This takes more funding to make this happen than a regular park, can you help by donating today?  https://www.miracleparkrockhill.com/donations

Sponsor: Indian Trail Miracle League

The Miracle League of Indian Trail was raising funds to build their own Miracle Field.  However, when they saw the plans for our Rock Hill Miracle Park, they knew that this was something they wanted to support and help make happen.  After the initial contacts and introductions were made, all parties knew that this would be a great partnership!  The Indian Trail Miracle League decided to donate all of the funds they  had raised for their field and to donate the Homer mascot that they had already purchased.  They are so excited to support our endeavor and cannot wait for their teams to join us on the fields!  We look forward to more partnerships like this one!

This donation was made in honor of one of the founders of the Miracle League of Indian Trail, Bob Green.  The Miracle League is near and dear to his heart.  Thank you again, friends; we look forward to seeing you on the fields!

"Cranford Dental is proud to support Miracle Park because of what it means to the children in our community. Rock Hill is known for its recreational parks, so to have a park that is inclusive for ALL children is just icing on the cake for our great city. As a family with three young children, we oftentimes find ourselves at parks on the weekends. We are thrilled with the addition of Miracle Park. I am excited for my children to be a part of a place that will show them how to love, serve and embrace others... all while having fun!"  - Dr. Elizabeth Robinson

Featured Future Miracle Park Athlete: Jim

Hi- I am Jim, a Rock Hill native, and I am 71 years young. I am retired from Springs after 38 years of working there- not many folks can say they worked at one place for 38 years! These days I love to have good conversation, watch westerns on TV,  and walk every day to stay healthy. I now live with friends and we are all excited about Miracle Park coming to our community. Miracle Park is great for me as I get older. There won’t be hills or hazards that could risk my health. There will also be equipment that will help me stay mentally and physically fit! I am looking forward to taking my daily walks with friends at a senior friendly fully accessible park.  I have a heart for Miracle Park!

Can you help Jim and other athletes play sports at this park? Please donate today, we still need $4,000,000 to complete all phases. https://www.miracleparkrockhill.com/donations

Playground Update: Cunningham Recreation sponsorship

Hopefully you've all seen the renderings of our state-of-the art playground.... I've included a few here.  We are so excited that installation will begin THIS SUMMER!  Amidst all the precautions for COVID-19, we are unsure when the playground will actually open.  Phase 1 is scheduled to be done by the end of the year. Unfortunately, this falls during winter, and as there is still much uncertainty, we do not want to speculate on how that may or may not effect our grand opening.  However, we do have some GOOD NEWS! Our partners at Cunningham Recreation have committed to helping us keep the park sanitized.  Here is a message from their president and our friend Scott Cunningham. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogy18OQ4qpQ&feature=youtu.be

What does Playground Safety look like during this "new normal?" Playground safety will no longer just be inspections, maintenance and documentation. It will include cleaning and sanitization.

Because we care about our customers, we've been thinking about how we can help you during this time. We would like to start you off right with our Cunningham Cares ProgramFor the next year on every playground purchased and installed from Cunningham Recreation, we will inspect, clean and sanitize your new playground FREE OF CHARGE.

Thank you Cunningham for your continued partnership with Miracle Park!  We can't wait to be able to play together! :)
